Healthy lunches and snacks are important to help active kids have energy and focus on learning. To make lunch healthy, try including fresh fruits, crunchy veggies, and a mix of foods with protein, dairy, and carbohydrates. Here are some easy tips:

  • Set an example: Show your kids how to eat healthy by choosing good foods for yourself, too.
  • Let them help: Ask your child to help pick and make their lunches. They’ll feel excited and proud of their choices.
  • Praise healthy choices: When they pick nutritious foods, give them a little praise—it encourages them to keep choosing well.
  • Encourage eating before play: Since school breaks are short, kids may want to play instead of eat. Remind them to eat first, or ask their school if they can have a bit more time to eat before playing.
